Evacuees and civilians
Civilians from Kuhmo were evacuated mainly to Ostrobothnia.
Supply and maintenance operations
The combat readiness of the troops in the Kuhmo sector was maintained through various supply operations. The Jämäs garrison area served as the logistics center.
Battles
The purpose of the troops of the Soviet 9th Army’s 54th Division, which crossed the border on November 30, 1939, was to advance from the Repola area toward Kuhmo’s parish village and then continue to Kajaani and Oulu. The forces fighting in Kuhmo halted the advance.
